This proud and stately, two story, brick home was built by the Great-grandfather of one of my best friends from grade school. It was built in 1880 and took three years to complete. The story is that all of the bricks were made right on site along with all of the wood-frame and trim work being cut and tooled from the oak and walnut trees grown on the property. Poplar was used for the columns on the outside to discourage termites. The architecture is Italianate and the sunroom on the side with the arched french doors was added after 1923.
